Still water at the end of a quiet resort

A cove of fine white sand at the end of a narrow inlet, between low pine-topped rocks, in the Porto Cristo Novo development, about 3 km south of Porto Cristo. It is very sheltered, has facilities in season and shares its mouth to the sea with neighbouring Cala Mendia.

Sand
Fine white sand, with rock along the sides.

There are pines on the slopes, but on the sand the only shade comes from the rental parasols.
Snorkelling: good
The middle is sand. On the rocky points on both sides there are fish, plus a large hollow carved into the cliff by the sea.
Good for kids
Sheltered water that stays shallow near the shore, with a lifeguard, toilets and a restaurant right there.
Dogs: not allowed
Manacor does not allow dogs on its urban beaches or beaches with facilities, and Cala Anguila is one of them. The bylaw sets out fines.

How to get there

By car and on foot
There is a small free car park above the cove and a larger one in the development, about 300 m away. You can also park in the surrounding streets. In July and August the nearby spaces go early. From the Ma-4014 (Porto Cristo to Portocolom), take the turn-off for Cala Anguila and Cala Mendia and follow the road through the development to the passeig de Alfons XII, which leads down to the cove. From the car park a few short steps take you to the sand.
By bus
TIB line 427 (Portocristo to Cala Mendia) stops at "Cala Anguila - Cala Magrana", about 600 m from the beach. Check the timetable on the TIB website.
By boat
The cove has an anchoring area off the beach. Some boat trips from Porto Cristo cruise along this stretch of coast.

It is a resort beach and fills up in high season, especially in the middle of the day. First thing in the morning and late in the afternoon it is much quieter.

Tips and what to bring

  • Get there early in summer. The car park above the cove is small and by mid-morning there are no spaces left nearby.
  • Mask and snorkel. The best bits are on the rocky points at the sides, not in the sandy middle.
  • No dogs. Manacor does not allow them on this beach.
  • Don’t smoke on the sand. It has been a smoke-free beach since Manacor joined the Govern’s network.
  • If you want more space, try neighbouring Cala Mendia, a few minutes’ walk away.

The cove faces south and is tucked well in, so the water is usually calm even when the wind blows from the north. First thing, in the morning light, you can see the sandy bottom almost from the shore.

How do you get to Cala Anguila?

Yes, during the bathing season, from May to October. In July and August the hours are 10:00 to 19:30.
