Fine sand facing the Illot de sa Caleta
A small sandy cove in ses Illetes, between Punta des Bufador and ses Illetes beach, about 9 km from Palma. It has pine woods and low rock on either side and, right in front, the Illot de sa Caleta. The name comes from an old "contesa", a dispute over this land.

- There are pines around the edges, but the sand is in the sun. Parasols are available to rent.

- Alternating rock and sand at the sides. The most interesting part is towards the Illot de sa Caleta; watch out for boats.

- Sheltered, shallow water, car and bus close by, a kiosk and a public toilet. There is no lifeguard, so keep a close eye on them.
- Dogs: not allowed
- Calvià bans pets from its beaches. The municipality's dog swimming areas are Punta Marroig (Palmanova) and Cala des Gats (Costa de la Calma).
How to get there
- By car and on foot
- Next to the cove there is a small public car park, with one space reserved for people with reduced mobility, which fills up early in summer. The surrounding streets are a regulated parking zone (ORA). From the Palma to Andratx motorway, take the Bendinat - Illetes exit and follow the signs for the beaches. The cove's car park is about 60 metres from the sand. You walk down stone steps; there is no boardwalk onto the sand.
- By bus
- Palma EMT line 4 (Ses Illetes - Nou Llevant) ends at the Ses Illetes stop, about 200 metres from the cove. TIB line 123 stops at Platges d'Illetes, about 500 metres away.
- By boat
- Boats anchor in front of the cove in summer. Visit Calvià gives a sandy bottom at 2 to 3 metres.

The Ajuntament (town council) rates it as highly crowded. It is 46 metres of sand, with sunbeds, a step away from the car park and the bus from Palma.
Tips and what to bring
- Arrive early or come by bus. The car park is small and fills up. EMT line 4 drops you two minutes away.
- Bring a parasol or rent one. The pines are around the edges and the sand is in the sun almost all day.
- Mask and snorkel. Swim along the rocks at the sides and look towards the Illot de sa Caleta, always keeping an eye out for boats.
- Coins for the toilet. There is a public toilet next to the cove, and you usually have to pay.
- Leave the dog at home. Animals are not allowed on Calvià’s beaches, and that includes this one.
The cove faces east, towards the Bay of Palma, with the islet in front. With a tramuntana (the north wind) or a ponent (west wind) it is usually calm; with a levante (east wind) some swell comes in.
