How we work it out

A cove that opens to the south is calm with a tramuntana and gets the waves with a migjorn. That’s why, with the same wind, some coves are perfect and others aren’t. The calculation is a guide only: always follow the beach flags.

How do you know which cove is calm?

Every cove opens to the sea in one direction. We match that orientation with the direction and strength of the wind and waves right now: if they come from the land, the cove is sheltered; if they come in from the sea, there will be waves.

How often is it updated?

Every time you open the page we fetch the latest data from Open-Meteo, which is refreshed every 15 minutes.

Is it 100% reliable?

It’s an estimate. It helps you choose well, but the sea can change during the day and there are currents or swell the calculation can’t see. Always follow the beach flags and the lifeguard’s instructions.

Why isn’t my cove listed?

We add coves little by little and only publish the ones we’ve checked. If you miss one, write to us at [email protected].
