Unspoilt sand facing the islets of na Moltona
A long stretch of fine white sand with no buildings, dunes and pine woods behind, and the islets of na Moltona and ses Roquetes in front. You can't drive there: you walk along the coast from Colònia de Sant Jordi. The water stays shallow for many metres and there are no facilities at all.

How to get there
- By car and on foot
- You can't get there by car. Leave the car in Colònia de Sant Jordi: next to Platja des Dolç, south of the village, there's a surface car park just over 1 km from the start of the beach. Another option is to park at Cap de ses Salines and walk about 5 or 6 km along the coast. Park in Colònia de Sant Jordi, around Platja des Dolç, and head south on the flat path that follows the coast between sand, low rock and pines. It's about 20 or 30 minutes to the start of the beach. From Platja des Port it's about 2.3 km. The dirt track that comes in from inland is private for cars.
- By bus
- TIB line 517 (Santanyí, Colònia de Sant Jordi, Campos) reaches the Colònia. From there you continue on foot along the coast. Check the timetable at tib.org.
- By boat
- Lots of boats anchor off the beach, especially in the afternoon. The water is shallow and there's posidonia, which must not be damaged by anchors.

The walk weeds out a lot of people and the beach is long, so there's room even in summer. In the afternoon more boats arrive than swimmers.
Tips and what to bring
- Water, food and shade. There’s nothing on the beach or along the path, and the sand is in full sun.
- Go in the morning. The beach faces south-west and in the afternoon it fills up with anchored boats.
- Keep off the dunes. Protected plants such as the sea daffodil grow behind the sand.
- Leave the posidonia. The dried leaves on the shore are part of the beach and protect it from the waves.
- Take your rubbish home. It’s an unspoilt beach and it stays that way because people look after it.
The beach opens to the south-west, towards the islets and Cabrera, so the afternoon sun shines straight onto the water. With the tramuntana (the north wind) or the llevant (the east wind) it’s usually calm; with the migjorn (the south wind) or the llebeig (the south-west wind), the waves come in.

How do I get to Platja des Carbó?
On foot. Park in Colònia de Sant Jordi and walk south along the coastal path, about 20 or 30 minutes over flat ground. There's no car access to the beach.
Where can I park?
In Colònia de Sant Jordi, for example next to Platja des Dolç, south of the village. From there you carry on along the coast on foot.
Does it have facilities?
No. There's no beach bar, lifeguard, toilets or sunbeds. Bring water, food and something for shade, and take your rubbish home.
Is it good for children?
The water is shallow and calm and the path is flat, so it usually works well with children. Bear in mind there's no shade, facilities or lifeguard.

Why is there seaweed on the shore?
It's dried posidonia leaves washed up by the sea. They protect the beach from erosion and aren't removed. With some winds they can smell.
