White sand facing the Illetes islets
A small town beach, 79 metres of white sand tucked between rocks and pines in the Illetes neighbourhood, a few kilometres from Palma. The islets that give the area its name sit just offshore and, above the sand, the terraces of the Balneario Illetas, open since 1958. The water is clear and usually calm.

- Sandy seabed in the middle and rock on both sides, which is where there's most to see.

- Clear, sheltered water, a lifeguard in season and the bus or car close by. There isn't much sand and it fills up in summer, so it's worth going early.

- Calvià bans pets from its beaches. The municipality's dog swimming areas are Punta Marroig (Palmanova) and Cala des Gats (Costa de la Calma).
How to get there
- By car and on foot
- Calvià lists a public car park and a pay-by-the-hour parking zone near the beach, but there are very few spaces for the number of people who come in summer. Get there early or take the bus. Don't park across building entrances or driveways. From the Palma to Andratx motorway, take the exit for Cala Major and Illetes and follow the old road to the passeig d'Illetes, which runs right above the beach. It's a couple of minutes down to the sand. Calvià council lists a boardwalk down to the sand and disabled parking bays.
- By bus
- Palma's EMT bus route 4 ends in Illetes and has a stop, Platja de ses Illetes, right above the sand. Since July 2025, TIB route 123 (Santa Ponça to Cas Català) also stops in Illetes, at the Platges d'Illetes stops.
- By boat
- Calvià's tourism website lists it as suitable for anchoring. The nearest harbour is Puerto Portals.

Calvià council rates it as busy. It's only 79 metres of sand, with sunbeds, and very close to Palma.
Tips and what to bring
- Get there early or by bus. There are very few parking spaces, and EMT route 4 stops right above the beach.
- Parasol or hire one. The pines are on the rocks at the sides and the sand is in full sun.
- Mask and snorkel. The most interesting bits are on the rocks at either end, not over the sand in the middle.
- Find a toilet before you go down. There are no public toilets on the beach.
- Leave the dog at home. Pets aren’t allowed on Calvià’s beaches.
The beach faces east-south-east, towards the bay of Palma, so it gets the morning sun. With the tramuntana (the north wind) or the ponent (the west wind) it’s usually calm; with an easterly or south-easterly the swell comes in.

How do I get there and where do I park?

Does it get very busy?
Yes. It's small, it's right next to Palma and Calvià rates it as busy. Get there before 10:00.

Are there any rules to be aware of?
Lighting fires, camping, playing music, playing ball games outside the permitted areas, using soap in the shower and stubbing out cigarettes in the sand are all forbidden.
