A small cove of pebbles and gravel, also known as sa Marina, next to the tiny harbour of Valldemossa. It is tucked in between slopes of pine woods and reddish rock, with a handful of houses, a slipway for hauling up boats and a restaurant. You get there on a narrow mountain road, and it opens to the northwest, towards the sunset.

Rounded pebbles and gravel, with rock at the sides, about 60 × 30 m of beach.

There is no shade on the pebbles; only from the slopes late in the day and on the restaurant terrace.

Rocky bottom on both sides of the cove and along the breakwater.
Good for kids
When the sea is calm, yes: the car is close by. But the bottom is pebbly, there is no record of a lifeguard and with a north or northwest wind the waves roll in. Bring water shoes.
Dogs: no specific rule
We have not found any municipal rule for this cove. Check with the Ajuntament de Valldemossa (town council).

How to get there

By car and on foot
In the hamlet there are a few spaces next to the houses and the harbour. We have not found any paid parking scheme. In summer the road gets jammed at times and parking runs out early; if it is full, there is nowhere to leave the car on the bends. The Port road (Ma-1131) leaves the Ma-10 between Valldemossa and Deià. It is about 5 km downhill on a narrow, very twisty road, with stretches where only one car fits. Once at the bottom, the water is a couple of minutes' walk away. There are two places to swim: the little pebble beach and the harbour slipway.
By bus
We have not found a regular bus down to the Port. TIB line 203 stops in the village of Valldemossa, about 7 km away by road.

The cove is very small and you notice the crowds in summer. Residents complain about the Port road getting overloaded, especially in high season.

Tips and what to bring

  • Drive down slowly. The Port road is narrow and winding, and in places you have to stop to let people coming up get past.
  • Water shoes. The shore is pebbles and gravel, and the harbour slipway is slippery.
  • Check the wind before you go. The cove opens to the northwest: with a tramuntana or mestral the waves roll in.
  • Book if you want to eat. The restaurant is the only facility in the Port.
  • If the parking is full, don’t push it. There is nowhere to leave the car on the road.

The cove faces northwest, so in summer the sun sets almost straight ahead over the sea. It is one of the most sought-after sunsets on the Valldemossa coast.
