The town beach in the middle of the bay
Can Picafort's main beach, in the middle of the bay of Alcúdia. It's a stretch of fine sand and shallow water running from the marina, to the south-east, to Casetes des Capellans, to the north-west, with the seafront promenade and its terraces right by the sand. It has a Blue Flag, lifeguards and facilities for people with reduced mobility.

What you’ll find
- Sand
- Fine sand, with shallow water near the shore, about 1200 × 30 m of beach.

- Beach bar, lifeguard, toilets, sunloungers.

- There are no trees on the sand. You can hire parasols, and the promenade has terraces with awnings.
- Snorkelling: limited
- Sandy seabed along almost the whole stretch. There's some rock by the marina, at the south-east end.
- Good for kids
- Shallow water and gentle waves almost always, a lifeguard from May to October, accessible toilets and the town next door. With a levant (east) or gregal (north-east) wind there can be waves.
- Dogs: not allowed
- Santa Margalida bans animals on its beaches from 1 May to 31 October. Outside those dates they're allowed on a lead. The municipality's dog beach is Na Patana, next to Son Bauló.
How to get there
- By car and on foot
- The beach has no car park of its own. You park on nearby streets and in the town's car parks, such as the one at plaça Major, which OpenStreetMap marks as free, about 10 minutes' walk away. In July and August it's hard to find a space, so it's best to arrive early. It's in the centre of Can Picafort and you can walk there from anywhere in town. The seafront promenade runs along the whole beach and has boardwalks and accessible entrances. In season, the lifeguard centre lends amphibious chairs and crutches free of charge.
- By bus
- The Platja de Can Picafort 1 and 2 stops, on the road to Artà, are right by the beach. TIB lines such as the 302 from Palma, the 316 from Inca, the 324 and 325 towards Alcúdia and the A32 from the airport stop there.

It's the beach of a town with lots of hotels, and in July and August it gets packed. The north-west end, towards Capellans, is usually a bit quieter.
Tips and what to bring
- Arrive early in summer. Parking near the promenade in July and August is difficult from mid-morning.
- Head for the north-west end if you want a bit more space. Towards Capellans there are fewer people than in front of the centre.
- Bring a parasol or hire one. There are no trees on the sand.
- Leave the dog at home from May to October, or take it to Na Patana, the municipality’s dog beach.
- Make the most of the promenade. The terraces are a few steps from the sand, especially nice at sunset.
The beach faces north-east, towards the inner bay of Alcúdia, so the sun rises over the sea. With a west wind it’s usually calm; with a gregal (north-east) or levant (east) wind the waves come in.

How do I get there and where can I park?

Is there a lifeguard?
Yes, from May to October. According to the Ajuntament (town council), in May and October from 10:00 to 17:00, in June and September from 10:00 to 18:00, and in July and August from 10:00 to 19:30.
Is it accessible for people with reduced mobility?
Yes. It has boardwalks, an accessible toilet, a shaded area and help getting into the water, with free amphibious chairs and crutches at the lifeguard centre from May to October.
Is it good for children?
Yes. The water is shallow for quite a few metres, there's a lifeguard in season and all the town's services are a step away. With an east wind there can be waves.
Can I bring my dog?
Not from 1 May to 31 October. The rest of the year you can, with the dog on a lead. If you want to take it in summer, Santa Margalida's dog beach is Na Patana, next to Son Bauló.
