Son Moll is the beach in the village of Cala Rajada, at the entrance to the harbour. It's about 140 metres of fine, pale sand, with rocks at either end and hotels behind. It has every facility and two walks: one leads to the harbour and the other, the passeig de ses Pites, follows the coast south.

Clear water and rocks at both ends. In the middle the seabed is sandy and there are lots of swimmers.
Good for kids
Fine sand, a gentle slope into the water and a lifeguard in season, with bars and toilets next to it. In summer there's little free space on the sand.
Dogs: no specific rule
We haven't found the specific local rule. Some guides say that in Capdepera dogs are only allowed on the beaches from November to March. Check with the Ajuntament (town council) before you go.

How to get there

By car and on foot
OpenStreetMap shows a free car park on plaça de Son Moll, a couple of minutes from the sand. In summer it fills up early and it's hard to find a space in the surrounding streets. There are other free car parks in the upper part of the village, about 15 minutes' walk away. It's in the village itself, so you can walk there from anywhere in Cala Rajada. From the harbour, follow the seafront promenade south. By car, follow signs for Cala Rajada from Capdepera. Access is flat and there's a boardwalk down to the sand.
By bus
The TIB Son Moll (Cala Rajada) stop is next to the beach. According to OpenStreetMap it's served by the 411 (Manacor), the 325 (Alcúdia) and the local routes to Cala Mesquida, Font de sa Cala and Porto Cristo. There's also a stop for the area's little tourist train next to it.

It's the village beach and it's surrounded by hotels, so in July and August it's very busy almost all day.

Tips and what to bring

  • Leave the car and walk. The beach is in the village and parking nearby in summer is hard.
  • Get up early in July and August. By mid-morning the sand is already full of sunbeds and towels.
  • Swim towards the rocks. At either end the water is clearer and there’s a bit more to see with a mask.
  • Follow the passeig de ses Pites. It starts at the southern end of the beach and runs along the coast towards Cala n’Aguait.

The beach faces east, so the sun rises over the sea. With a westerly wind it’s usually calm; with the llevant (the east wind) or gregal (the north-east wind) the waves come in.
